MCLEANSBORO –  Scott Dale Van Winkle, age 53 and resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away 5:17 p.m., August 11, 2023, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro, IL

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. 

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Scott’s ashes will be spread by his family at his favorite places.

Reverend Dr. Ken Cook will officiate the service.

Scott was born July 1, 1970 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Penny Van Winkle and Linda (Gassaway) Van Winkle. He was employed as a Mail Carrier in McLeansboro, IL. Scott attended Lick Creek Church. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sons Slade Michael Van Winkle of Broughton, IL; Kale Joshua Van Winkle of McLeansboro, IL; parents Penny and Linda Van Winkle, McLeansboro, IL; sister Jill Prince of McLeansboro; nieces Savannah Webb and husband Cole, McLeansboro; Peyton Prince and fiancé Quinten Harmon, McLeansboro; two great nephews Carter Webb and Elliott Webb, McLeansboro; Several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements.
