WEST FRANKFORT – John Robert “Bob” Colyer, 83, of West Frankfort, Illinois. passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Benton Rehab & Health Care at 10:50 p.m.

Bob was born March 17, 1941, in Freeman Spur, Illinois, to Elmer and Emma (Mann) Colyer. He was a coal miner and a business owner. Bob married Ramona Moore on June 20, 1981, and they were married for 42 years. He owned a grocery store, trucking company nursery, and a bar “Colyer’s 212.”

He was preceded in death by his wife Ramona Colyer, father Elmer Colyer, mother Emma McCarty, brothers William Colyer and John Ferketich, and sister Naomi Miller.

Bob is survived by his children Richard Colyer of West Frankfort, Debi (Dave) Morgan of Carterville, Marcia (Mike) Van Horn of Bluffton, SC, Larry (Penny) Moore of West Frankfort, and Mark Moore of West Frankfort; brother Richard Colyer, grandchildren Mike and Denetta Magruder, Eric and Rhiannon Wiggins, Richard Newton, Rusty D. Mays, Taylor Moore, Emily Moore, Jeremy and Megan Moore, Tanisha and Alexis Moore, special grandsons Austin Smith and Jacob Colyer, many great-grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with Guy Webster officiating.
