CAIRO – A groundbreaking new era of home construction, and the first of its kind in the region, is happening in Cairo and everyone is invited to join the celebration.

The groundbreaking and block party takes place Saturday and is being put on by the Fowler Bonan Foundation and ADM.

At 10:30 a.m. a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for this revolutionary project.

“Eminence Resource Inc. is thrilled to announce the donation of our first 3D-printed house to the city of Cairo,” says Josh Burtis of Eminence. “This project represents a significant step forward in sustainable and innovative construction. We are dedicated to leveraging advanced technology to create affordable, eco-friendly housing solutions that can benefit communities around the world.”

It’s not often people will gather around a construction site to see something being built, but this isn’t your ordinary build. Black Buffalo has revolutionized the industry with their 3D printers. Traditional homes take months to build, but with this approach an entire home can be completed in weeks.

“Black Buffalo 3D is proud to support our client Eminence Resources in bringing innovation to Cairo,” remarked Mike Miceli, CEO of Black Buffalo 3D. “3D construction will play a vital role in revitalizing the region and this is the first of many planned projects that will serve as a showcase for attainable housing and strengthening infrastructure.”

Bringing hope and prosperity to Cairo has been a top priority for Senator Dale Fowler of the 59th District, especially since the sad loss of the Elmwood and McBride housing units.

“This is such an exciting new development to bring displaced families back home.” Senator Fowler said. “This is the start of more development and growth to come for this community and throughout Southern Illinois.”

Fowler is also the co-founder and chairman of Fowler Bonan Foundation, which one of their top missions is helping with food security concerns. The foundation recently obtained a grant through ADM, Archer Daniels Midland Company, which focuses on increasing food security for that particular area.

With the support of this grant, a block party celebration is being held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., following the groundbreaking. Those in attendance will be treated with a lunch of grilled cheeseburgers and hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Guests will have the opportunity to shop off pallets of groceries and fresh produce from the Food Works Mobile Farmers Market. The Fun Foods Ministry will be serving free sno cones, popcorn and cotton candy and ice cream treats will be available at the American Ice Cream truck. An exciting addition is a semi filled with Amazon products that will be given away from 4 Good Community. Everything will be at no charge to anyone in attendance, while supplies are available. The foundation encourages anyone from any town or area to attend.

“This celebration not only addresses food insecurity concerns but also addresses the housing crisis while setting new standards for sustainable and affordable living.”, Fowler said.

The groundbreaking and block party celebration are being held on the property at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and 16th and 17th Street, behind the old city hall in Cairo.
