CARTERVILLE – The City of Carterville will be flushing and gauging flow rates of a dozen various fire hydrants throughout the city Friday.

According to a City of Carterville Facebook post, the activity will measure flow rates for the Insurance Services Office inspection of the Carterville Fire Department later this month.

Residents may experience discoloration of water during this activity. During that time, the city discourages laundering clothes if your home or business is affected by discolored water.
