HARRISBURG – Harrisburg Police were made aware early Thursday morning by a parent of a possible threat made at Harrisburg High School Wednesday.
The student initially identified in that incident was contacted by school administrators and instructed to stay at home and not to attend school Thursday. Police immediately initiated an investigation and conducted interviews Thursday with students that were either involved, or may have information regarding the case. In conclusion, this threat was deemed to be not credible.
A second incident stems from posts that students have seen on social media, specifically on Snapchat and TikTok. The posts in question are screenshots that have been repeatedly shared and viewed, and contained a “list” of names that were targeted. These social media posts have already been investigated by other agencies and have either been proven as not credible or have had arrests associated with them. These social media posts in question present no credible threat to students at Harrisburg High School and have no direct connection to students at the school.
Police say while the threats in question, from both incidents were deemed not credible, there will be a heightened police presence at the schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
