GALATIA – The superintendent of the Galatia School District says over the last few days, reports of students making threatening statements were reported to school officials by both staff and parents.

Shain Crank released a statement on the district’s Facebook page Tuesday saying the school investigated to the fullest extent possible including communicating with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police.

Crank is confident that Galatia schools are safe and at no time was an imminent threat to harm staff or students reported.

He says the school district is not aware of any credible threats to the school or students moving forward. Any threats will be dealt with through the school discipline process.
