MARION – Two juveniles were recently cited in a stolen vehicle investigation in Williamson County.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, a 14-year-old girl was cited for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, No Valid Driver’s License and Criminal Damage to Property. A 15-year-old boy was cited for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Criminal Damage to Property. They were both released to their parents.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, deputies conducted a registration check on a vehicle while patrolling north of Johnston City. They discovered the vehicle had been previously reported stolen from a residence in Herrin.

Deputies continued following the stolen vehicle northbound on Illinois 37 as additional law enforcement saturated the area.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the vehicle complied coming to rest on Cleveland Street in West Frankfort. The two juveniles were inside. They were then taken into custody and taken to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
