CARMI – The Southeastern Illinois College Welding Program recently received a donation of a ½-inch steel plate from Corey Wilzbacher, Heavy Industrial Specialist at Nix Industrial, based in Poseyville, Indiana. The plate will be used as practice testing material for welding students at SIC’s Carmi location in the Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center. Nix Industrial has expressed interest in hiring local vocational students and supporting programs like the one at SIC. Discussions are planned for early next year regarding student presentations and potential summer internship opportunities.
