AVA – A Murphysboro man died in a one-vehicle rollover crash early Monday morning in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says around 2:20 a.m., deputies responded to the scene on Illinois 3 in the area of Big Lake Road.

Twenty-year-old Dalton J. McCarty was going south when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

The Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Ava Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Illinois 3 was closed for two-and-a-half hours.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash.
